Mission
The mission of TAT Co.: The Artist Tattoo Company, is to bring the Rock Super-Fan, as well as Rock-N-Roll fashion lover, the most unique and original clothing in the country. We pride ourselves on unique design and quality craftsmanship. By using rock stars Tattoo Art to inspire mind blowing clothing design, we bring the Rock Star you see on stage directly to the shirt on your back.
The Story
TAT Co. is a custom clothing line inspired by the artists who wear them. Never before has the licensing of a rock stars tattoo ink been pulled off. That is exactly what we do. If you are a fan or if you just dig cool rocker clothes; either way TAT Co. brings the Rock Star that you see on-stage directly to the shirt on your back. This is the first time that anyone has been able to wear clothing inspired by the Rock Stars themselves.
Co-Founder Wade sat with long-time friend, Scott Bartlett of Saving Abel who was partying like a rock star. Scott had recently gotten a tattoo on his left shoulder. It read "Silicis Quod Volvo" which means Rock And Roll, in Latin. Wade said to Scott, "Man that would look cool on a T-Shirt. I think we should start a company." At that moment the concept of TAT Co. was born.
As time passed, Wade sat with the idea and kicked it around with a couple of local Memphis entrepreneurs in hopes of getting a little guidance. One of those entrepreneurs happened to be Fitz Dearmore, another long time friend to Wade.
Fitz soon became the fuel to the fire that sent TAT Co. into "Real Life". The word began to get around that there was a new clothing line about to be born. As more and more people learned of the idea, countless supporters came out of the woodwork. There was only one problem, neither Wade nor Fitz could sew or draw well; two of the cornerstone attributes that make up a good piece of clothing. As they say in Rock-N-Roll "The Show Must Go On".
This is the attitude that would keep TAT Co. alive. In-spite of their lack of sewing and drawing capabilities they brought a few new partners on board. Guess who: Their moms!! Wade's mom Elie and Fitz's mom Sharon became the first line of production for TAT Co. The inaugural design Le Fleur , was sewn by Eli after pulling an all-Nighter so that Scott Bartlett could wear the shirt on-stage at Memphis's New Daisy Theater on December 26th, 2008.
A few months later Sharon came through in a clutch performance after working tirelessly when she constructed the first custom vest called 10K Noose for Zach Myers of Shinedown, first worn on stage May 2nd, 2009 at the Beale Street Music Festival.
There was still one element missing; a great artist to bring Wade's ideas to life. This is where the skills of a well trained artist name Brandon Parkinson came in. Interestingly enough, Brandon was also a long time friend of Wade's. They had grown up only two blocks from each other in the small town of Scott City, KS. Brandon fit right in with the rest of this motley crew. He has been know to go 3 days with no sleep so that a piece of art would be ready for production. With TAT Co'.s Rock-N-Roll method of going at business with the intensity that it's musicians perform with and refusing typical ways of creating fashion, we are changing the way fashion is made. TAT Co. managed to go from imagination to realization no time. First public Apearance of a design was in December of '08, First Retail sale in may of '09 and the launch of our web site in the first year. Most fashion lines take 2-3 years to become tangible.
Now thats Rock N Roll! NOT BAD FOR A COUPLE GUYS AND THEIR MOMS!!!! Stay tuned for more Rock N Roll Style and more Rock N Roll Attitude!!!
